Introduction to Economics - Syllabus and Outline
David Busch Washingtonville High School
1. How much money do you need?
2. How much food should we produce?
3. What is value?
4. How do we distribute AND USE our Resources?
These are some of the basic Economic Questions we will analyze in this introductory course in Economics.
Economics is an often used word that many of us know little about. The goal of this course is for you to gain knowledge of how our society answers the above questions.
Class Procedures and Expectations:
Each week we will analyze a different aspect of Economics using your textbook as a framework. We will largely proceed using the chapters in your text as a guide. There will be one weekly homework assignment along with various individual projects and or papers. You are expected to read each chapter in the text coinciding with our class activities. Your text is required in class whenever we meet - unless otherwise stated. There will also be one weekly news assignment in which you will present a news topic to the class and we will discuss the economic and political impact of your topic. Further instructions will be distributed.
Text: Glencoe – Economics, Principles and Practices (http://glencoe.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078606934/student_view0/)
Grading: Your grade will be comprised of several factors
· Being prepared each day with your text, notebook, and pen
