THE  NEW YORK SWING EXCHANGE!!!!

The tall handsome guy with the Trumpet is Angelo.  On Angelo's left is Nick.  He's been playing forever.  He Jet propels the whole band. Strumming away in the front is Peter and to his left is Mike our Tenor soloist.

The personnel of this 17-piece orchestra, and our vocalist, are all professional musicians, whose talent and expertise in performing with a big, modern swinging band stems from the background of the individual players.  Some of the members are alumni of the “Big Band” era of the ‘40’s, 50’s and ‘60’s, coming from the popular New York City scene, as well as the recording industry.   Background of others reaches into the music education area of public schools and universities, bringing along talent from some of today’s younger players, as well as small jazz groups.  Add to this the fine vocal work of Maureen Morrissey and it makes a great mix, with everyone benefiting from this artistic diversification.

Most of all, what makes this big, swinging band unique is the musician’s love of performing as a group, with the great sounds that come from ensemble jazz and swing, as well as beautiful ballads.  The sum total of all these ingredients equals toes tapping; fingers snapping; heads swaying;  and those happy smiles on the faces of our listening audiences as well as the dancers.

Our band consists of  5 reeds  /  4 trombones /  4 trumpets / 4 rhythm / and Maureen on vocals.   There’s  no question big bands are back, but we need your support to keep this one going in this rural area.   If you have any questions, or have names of people who would like to be added to our mailing list, be sure to either  call, or Email us.
